Press Release – For Release on March 1, 2004
Alpha Omega Partners, Inc. and Stony Point Capital Partners, LLC today announce their merger into Alpha Omega Capital Partners, LLC. Alpha Omega Capital Partners was formed to serve all the investment banking needs of privately held companies in the Southeast. The combined firm brings together the investment banking and venture capital experience of Stony Point Capital Partners with the merger & acquisition and operations experience of Alpha Omega Partners.
The principals of Alpha Omega Capital Partners have extensive experience in running, advising, investing in, and buying and selling companies. Prior to founding one of the predecessor firms in 1998, Tony Vincent spent many years with American Filtrona where he acquired or sold numerous companies. George Sydnor was the long time CEO of James McGraw, a regional distribution company based in Virginia prior to selling the company to a private equity group and joining Alpha Omega in 2000. Prior to co-founding Stony Point Capital in 2002 with Bob Louthan, Rob Mitchell spent 16 years working for several venture funds and two commercial banks where he worked closely with numerous companies. Mr. Louthan brings 10 years experience as a venture capitalist and investment banker in Richmond, including several years at Virginia Capital. Between them, the principals have worked with the CEOs or served on the boards of hundreds of companies.
Mr. Vincent, the President of the new firm, stated that “this
merger will greatly assist smaller middle market companies by bringing
together the investment experience of Stony Point Capital with the M&A
experience of Alpha Omega Partners. Companies have had few places to
go for assistance from qualified advisors, and now they do.” The
two firms comprising Alpha Omega Capital Partners have built a solid
reputation of advising companies with $50 million or less in sales.
Alpha Omega is especially well known to entrepreneurs for the sale of
26 companies over the last 5 years. Stony Point is well known in the
venture capital, banking, and professional community for helping companies
secure growth capital and buyers for their companies. Companies in the
Richmond area that have used their services in the past include Lakeside
Appliance, Entry Guard Systems, Atlas Industrial, Transmission Products,
Marston, Pacific Chai, and American Family Fitness.
